Enfield

Enfield covers a broad area of outer north London with distinct sub-areas — Enfield Town, Southgate, Winchmore Hill, Palmers Green, and Edmonton — each with a different character and building stock. The western parts around Winchmore Hill and Southgate are predominantly inter-war suburban housing on tree-lined streets, with semi-detached and detached houses built with cavity brick walls and concrete tile or plain tile roofs. Enfield Town itself has a Victorian and Edwardian core with terraced houses, a modest commercial centre, and some larger period properties. Edmonton to the east introduces post-war council estates, system-built housing, and more recent regeneration development. Surveying instructions across the borough commonly include pre-purchase surveys on residential properties, schedules of condition for residential and commercial lettings, party wall advice for extensions and loft conversions, and condition assessments on housing stock of various ages and construction types.

Inter-War Suburban Housing
