Building Owner Party Wall Contact
Information on what to send when proposed works may engage the Party Wall etc. Act 1996 and early procedural advice is needed.
Why the drawings and project information matter
Whether the Act applies and what notice is needed usually depends on the detail of the proposed works. Drawings, structural information, and a short explanation of the project help identify the relevant parts of the procedure at the start.
Early clarity also makes it easier to understand whether a schedule of condition is likely to be required and what information adjoining owners are likely to need.

What to send
At the outset, the following information is usually the most useful:
- Drawings or sketches showing the proposed works.
- Any structural engineer information if it is already available.
- The property address and a short note describing the works and programme.
- Any draft notices or earlier correspondence if these already exist.
What happens next
- The project information is reviewed to identify whether the Act is likely to apply and which notices may be needed.
- You receive guidance on the likely procedural route, adjoining owner considerations, and the next steps before works begin.
- If appropriate, the discussion then moves to notice preparation, schedules of condition, or surveyor appointment.
If the design is still evolving
A complete drawing pack is not always necessary for an initial conversation. A short explanation and the best available plans are often enough to identify the immediate procedural issues.
